Hank Morse was the guest speaker and delivered a great message to the players about how "today you may be rivals but tomorrow you may be playing on the same college team or working as co-workers in the same company." Hank went on to describe how he watched his generation of Medford and Malden rivals "become the closest of friends and supporters many years after leaving high school and learning more about each other as people rather than players from another city."
Hank implored the players to enjoy the upcoming game but to be respectful and to remember that long after the game is over your actions as gentlemen will be remembered; represent your team and your community with drive and determination but also dignity and deference.
The Malden and Medford Seniors and Captains were in attendance, along with the teams coaching staff and senior cheerleaders. Malden's Carroll Lowenstein (class of ‘47, football star) and Joan Mongeau from the Malden Chamber of Commerce.
Malden Rotarian Arthur Kahn was the event MC and has presided over the luncheon for many years. Arthur was a former Malden High School standout athlete and supporter of the Golden Tornados. Malden President Ronnie Puzon and Treasurer David Hart combined with Medford President John Murphy and President Elect Annie Powers championed this year's joint club program.
